Indy 500 to be paced with the new Chevrolet Camaro
The Chevrolet Corvette has been doing what it can to pace up the Indy 500 for more than five years, but now this all has ended.
According to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, this year the race car for 2009 to be reborn as Chevrolet Camaro that has been painted in red and silver graphics.
It will happen 5th time that the Camaro to pace the 500m race on Memorial Day weekend. Last time it was used as the pace car for 1993.
This new pace Camaro to be powered with a 6.3-liter V8 that gets 426 horsepower 420lb-ft torque. This powerhouse will be mated with 6-speed manual transmission.
Strobe lights are the only addition that is being made in this Camaro production for pace car.
