Taking into account the latest technical regulations that will come into effect in the 2014 FIA World Touring Car Championship, Honda has revealed the initial visuals of Challenger that will take part in the competition next year.

An amazing design of the wheel arch extensions, sleeker aero package, bigger diameter wheels and extended rear spoiler are some of the highlights of Honda Civic WTCC Challenger. On top of that, there is an immensely increased engine power, which should go a long way in helping Honda Civic team to perform much better and retain its World Championship title.

JAS Motorsport will run two cars for Honda’s leading drivers, Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro, whereas some other Civics will be operated by Proteam Racing and Zengo Motorsport – a couple of private outfits – for Mehdi Bennani of Morocco and Norbert Michelisz of Hungary respectively.

It needs to be remembered that Honda’s team performed exceptionally well during the 2013 WTCC and at times dominated the proceedings in different races of the competition, especially in Shanghai, where all the top three positions were secured by Honda’s drivers, which was surely a massive achievement for the team.

Honda Civic WTCC

After a dominating performance this year and Honda already being mentioned as favorites of the 2014 WTCC by a huge number of racing experts, the latest enhancements in vehicles have  definitely rung the alarm bell for all the competitors. However, Honda’s new racing car should encourage other participants of the championship to also make necessary amendments in their cars.
