Honda Amaze VS Toyota Etios – A Comparison
Comparing cars with each other is one of the popular means to make the final decision while buying a car. In a country like India, where there are several options available in each segment, buying the right car and choosing the perfect car is not always an easy task. However, a comparative study of the shortlisted cars could help in better decision making. Even if the comparison is not exhaustive or comprehensive, it could serve as a pointer. Here is an attempt to compare the popular cars – Honda Amaze and Toyota Etios. So, if you are unsure which one to go for, reading this comparison could be helpful.
The major points of comparison are Price, Engine details, Mileage and other comfort and luxury features offered in case of each car. For parity, the diesel variant of the cars is being compared here.
Price – As always, price is the first and foremost parameter that influences any buying decision. The Honda Amaze is available for a price range of INR 4,99,900 to 7,55,000 (ex-showroom). The Toyota Etios is a bit expensive than Amaze as it is available for a price range of INR 5,38,654 to 8,07,776 (ex-showroom). Going by the price factor alone, Honda Amaze has an edge.
Engine – Honda Amaze is powered by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder, iDTEC, DOHC 1498 cc diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 100 PS at 3600 rpm. The torque of this engine is at 200 Nm @ 1750 rpm. Etios, on the other hand, is a powered by a 1364 cc, 8V, SOHC, four-cylinder engine that produces power of 68 PS at 3800 rpm. This engine produces a torque of 170 Nm at 1800 – 2400 rpm. So, it is clear that even though the Amaze is faster than the Etios, the latter is slightly more powerful than the former.
Mileage – Honda Amaze delivers a top class mileage of 25.8 kmpl. Alternately, the Toyota Etios gives a mileage of 20 kmpl. As far as mileage is concerned, the Honda Amaze wins the fight without any trouble.
Other features – In many cases, when the parameters like price, engine performance and mileage are at par with each other, the other comfort and safety features tip the scale in favor of one car or the other. Some of the comfort features in the Amaze include EBD, fog lamps, keyless entry, central locking, ABS, and engine immobilizer, as well as air bags for top end models. The features offered in Etios are EBD, ABS, traction control, door ajar warning, driver seat belt, engine immobilizer and keyless entry.
Conclusion – It is clear that Amaze scores better in vital areas than the Etios. Hence, it would be wise to choose the Amaze over Etios.
