Chevrolet Adds Overboost Technology to 2014 Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel
Chevrolet has been working on some of the vehicles that managed to impress car buyers last year. Chevrolet is all set to bring out the all new 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel but before they do that the automaker wants to make sure that they add some really good features to it for better performance. Chevrolet has now made an announcement that they would like to add features that offer quick acceleration but without compromising fuel economy and environmental issues.
The American automaker said that they have finally managed to get the breakthrough with Overboost turbocharging feature that offers best highway fuel economy for any non-hybrid passenger car in the US market.
Chevrolet claims that the new 2014 Chevrolet Cruze diesel gets turbocharged 2.0 liter engine that is SAE certified and offers 151 horsepower and 264 lb feet of torque. According to the announcement made by the automaker 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel will offer better fuel economy compared to any gasoline engine through greater thermal efficiency. With the inclusion of Overboost technology Chevrolet will be able to increase the torque to 280 lb feet for about 10 seconds of stronger acceleration. The company engineers claim that the torque of 2014 Chevrolet Cruze with the help of overboost technology will be equivalent to that of 1972 Camaro Z/28 that has heavier 5.7 liter V8 engine.
Mike Siegrist GM 2.0 liter Diesel Engine Assistant Chief Engineer said that overboost technology is being used for the first time in the Chevrolet Cruze and that can increase the performance of the engine any time when the driver wants it. When the driver pushes the throttle the turbocharger in the engine pushes the air and fuel intake over the regular engine requirements to meet the torque demands. The new 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel now offers acceleration of zero to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds which is faster than its rival 2013 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0L TDI.
