China Outsells Major World Auto Markets in 2009 1Q

Nearly five years back, most of auto industry experts were predicting that the auto industry in China would out sell many major auto markets like in Europe, US and Japan by 2015. But due to amazing economic boom in the country and worldwide economic gloom, the country has outsold many of these big auto markets even before 2015. The worldwide auto industry has been suffering a lot during the past few months, but now some signs of recovery are being noticed and China is the first country that showed these signs of improvements. The thing that played quite a pivotal role in this connection was government support to the auto industry, as it encouraged new auto sales through tax cuts and rebates. In China, retail tax on small cars was halved during this year and more than 5m yuan were funded up in the form of vehicle subsides to the country areas. Chinese auto industry had to undergo the slowest growth in 10 years during 2007, but still it managed 9.38 million car sales that was a 6.7% boost if compared to the results got in 2007. Ford Reports Loss as Sales Slide

The popular car maker Ford has recorded loss in the first quarter of 2009 because there was a massive slump in the car sales. Consumers across the globe are reducing their expensive purchases and hence the buying power has reduced. This has led to the reduction in the number of car sales and hence a loss for Ford. While the rivals of Ford, General motors and Chrysler are about to face bankruptcy, Ford has managed to face its financial targets. In the previous year, Fort recorded profit of $70mn during the first quarter. Now, the first quarter result for 2009 is a loss of $1.4bn. In the Europe alone, Ford recorded a loss of $550m during the quarterly while the company was making $737m profits in 2008. Revenue of Ford has gone down to $6bn from $10.2bn. Even though there was a revenue loss for Ford in the last quarter of 2008, the company was able to make profit for the year 2008. To cope up with the loss in the first quarter of 2009 and to increase car sales, Ford has announced reduction in its car prices. Also, the company has plans to reduce its debt obligations by $10.1bn.

Overhead Shot of New Jaguar XJ Released

The new sedan Jaguar XJ will be in front of our eyes by this summer. The nearer its launch date is coming; the more everyone is becoming impatient. To add to this eagerness, Jaguar has released an overhead snapshot of the redesigned upcoming sedan. This photo has been taken from above the car, to highlight its scenic glass roof. This forthcoming stylish car has been reengineered regarding its framework; thus it is going to be very different from the current XJ that has an aluminum chassis. The exterior design is anticipated to be more like that of the XF sedan. Though the interior is going to be uniquely planned; there will be some resemblance with the current XF’s interior side. A Tesla Roadster has lately handled to run 241 miles on a single charge with an average speed of 28 mph, when it took part in the “Rally Monte Carlo d’Energies Alternatives.” This is an annual rally organized by the automobile club of Monaco and is open to cars powered by almost any substitute fuel source, like LPG, ethanol or petrol powered hybrid cars. Rolls-Royce 200EX to be Powered with V12 Engine

On Monday, Rolls-Royce announced that its coming 200EX production version will house a 6.6-liter V12 turbocharged engine. Rolls-Royce has recently unveiled the 200EX at the Geneva motor show. This 6.6-liter V12 turbocharged engine is a part of a new gasoline engines family that has been developed by BMW and this family also includes the turbocharged 4.4-lit V8 that has been housed in the 7-series and it has been developed by using the state-of-the-art direct-injection tech and it claims to generate more than 500hp. V12 seems quite similar to the smaller version V8 with little bit development and it produces 442lb-ft torque in the BMW top range. However, the new V12 has been destined for the higher-price Rolls-Royce and it is being expected within 533lb-ft torque vicinity.
