BMW Signs BMW 328 for Mille Miglia 2013 Event
BMW brand has always been close to the Mille Miglia which is a traditional steeped reliability road endurance race. BMW Group said that they have always participated in the race and they feel great to be a part of this event for past so many decades. This year BMW Group Classic has signed up for nine BMW 328 that has participated in the event and the company said that it has been around 75 years now since the first BMW 328 participated in the Mille Miglia 2013 event.
BMW Group also said that this shows that some of the classic cars by BMW still has the ability to compete in such events and it also indicates the bond between the brand and Mille Miglia.
The Mille Miglia race debuted in 1927 and was rated among the top motor sport challenge until 1957 when the trend changed and most motor sport races took place on public highways and urban streets. BMW Group said that this year their nine BMW 328 started the race at the start point in the north Italian town of Brescia. Dr Ralf Rodepeter Director BMW Museum and BMW Group Classic Marketing said that it is a fascinating experience every time to see 328 on such traditional routes. The car has already clocked up 1000 miles on it non-stop and it has been racing in the event for more than 75 years now which is a proud moment for all the people associated with BMW Group Classic. He said that the reason behind such powerful performance is the gearbox of the vehicle.
BMW Group Classic said that all the BMW 328 cars still have the original transmission that helps the car to take over all the challenges of Mille Miglia. On the other hand, BMW 328 is reliable, efficient and low weight vehicle that offers the right characteristics for Mille Miglia race.
