Audi Announces Long-Tail R18
There is a new brand new variant from Audi for the hybrid sports car, the long-tail R18 200. Clearly, Audi is getting more ambitious and is aiming at round 2 of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The new long-tail variant will be tested in Belgium as Audi Sport Team wants to make best preparations for the Le Mans 24 Hours. As we know that the race teams are always looking for ways to trim out even those hundredths of seconds in their lap times. The minor changes to the prototype racecar from Audi are sure to make it more slippery as it cuts out through the air.
The long-tail version, as the name suggests, the R18 E-tron Quattro racecar gats an elongated rear section with an objective of improving aerodynamics. One will find this long-tail running along with the standard version of the racecar so as to evaluate the possible changes that might be needed before heading for 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The spectators’ interest of course will focus mainly on the thrilling battle between the challenger Toyota and the world Champion Audi. The peak of the season for the sports prototypes will be held on June 22 and 23.
