Volkswagen is certainly trying to be in the race with top automakers like Toyota and Honda and therefore the company has decided to roll out some of the best sedans that can allow them to capture the American market.

For Volkswagen Passat has always remained one of the best vehicles and the company believes various sedans like Passat have already been successful in the North American market. Although Passat was initially engineered for European consumers but Volkswagen has re-engineered the vehicle for American consumers. Let’s take a quick look at the features of the new Passat vehicle in the 2012 Volkswagen Passat 2.5 SE review below.

  •  The all new 2012 Volkswagen Passat 2.5 SE looks like a combination of various sedans that are already available in the North American market. Volkswagen claims that they have tweaked some of the structure of the vehicle to make it more aerodynamic for the American consumers.
  • The front fascia of the vehicle looks like Volkswagen Jetta but the new Passat 2.5 SE has a large grille that dominates the most part of the front end.  The rear ends are very similar to the European version of Passat because Volkswagen does not want to experiment too much with the exterior that can cut down the performance of the vehicle.
  •  The overall vehicle size and weight is much smaller than the previous European version and also compared to various other sedans in the market. The vehicle is made from lightweight steel and aluminum that drops the overall weight of the vehicle.

  • Under the hood, 2012 Volkswagen Passat 2.5 SE features the 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine that has the capability to produce 200 horsepower instead of the 170 horsepower engine that was incorporated in the Jetta previously.
  •  The vehicle also offers better EPA ratings like 22 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway and 27 mpg combine which is similar to the 2010 2.0T version of Volkswagen Passat. The vehicle also offers better suspension that makes the overall driving better and enjoyable.

  • Volkswagen has decided to cut some cost when it comes to interiors. Although the interior styling is very stylish the materials used for it is not that great in quality. The seats are bigger and better but they lack certain contours that make the driving experience better. The biggest advantage of 2012 Volkswagen Passat 2.5 SE interiors is enormous leg space. The vehicle offers better space for the passengers making it the most spacious sedan in its class. Volkswagen believes that American consumers need better and bigger space and therefore they have offered more cargo space.

  • The 2012 Volkswagen Passat 2.5 SE is available for MSRP $19,995 and above.
