Rare Lamborghini LM002 to be Displayed at RM Auctions
A rare Lamborghini SUV, LM002 will be shown at the upcoming RM Auctions Arizona in January 2015. Although the Italian automaker is known for its fastest sports cars in the world, this stillborn SUV shows the company’s proficiency in the SUV segment.
The Lamborghini LM002 is a large super utility vehicle produced between 1986 and 1993, which was majorly based on the prototype codenamed ‘Cheetah’. It is powered by a 5.2 liter V12 engine, which was borrowed from the Lamborghini Countach. Moreover, the engine is mated with a five-speed manual transmission to transfer power to all four-wheels. With this powertrain, the LM002 have the potential to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.7 seconds, which is still impressive as compared to modern SUVs.
The LM002 sports a boxy, yet aggressive exterior design with sharp edges. On the inside, it features tinted power windows, air conditioning, full leather trim and roof-mounted premium stereo system.
During its seven-year production, the company manufactured only 328 units of LM002, which makes it a very rare model. The one to be displayed at the RM Auctions Arizona is the 1989 LM002 painted in blood red. The auction is scheduled for January 15 – 16, 2015.
