The new developmental strategy by Mercedes-Benz has revealed that they will launch a wagon version of second-generation CLS sedan which acts as rival to the recently introduced BMW-5 series GT and the upcoming Audi A7.
This is expected to be the very bold step for the developers as the competition has just started and this wagon series has a scope in the international auto markets. The features and some specifications of this car have been revealed which shows that it will be a new four door sedan and the two door shooting brakes have been revealed earlier.
The Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche said in an interview that “We’re seeking to improve our returns by better utilization of existing platforms”. The code suggested by the developers is X218 and will come to the world at the Paris motor show expected to hold in September and the production will start in 2012. The company’s plans have revealed that it will receive a range of V6 and V8 engines that will be revealed this June and the fuel consumption has also been reported to reduce to about 25% over the current power plants. So this will come to be a new car is also expected to get the huge customer’s response like that of E-class.
