Ford Sedan’s Gas Pedal Trapped by Floor Mats, Government Is Investigating
The National Highway Traffic safety administration has recently announced that they are investigating the reports of accelerators pedal being trapped by floor mat in the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan sedans. NHTSA has also reported that they have got three complaints regarding this problem but still now no reports of the accidents or injuries due to this problem have been seen.
The NHSTA says that its probe will cover about 249,000 cars from the models of year 2010. Such kind of problem as earlier cited by Toyota, as a main reason for the reports of unintentional accelerators problem in lots of their models and at that time Toyota recalled 5.4 million cars to fix the floor mat issue.
According to NHSTA this problem usually occurs when consumer stacks the all weather floor mat on the standard carpeted floor mat and then this suggestion was given that the carpeted floor mats should be removed before placing the all-weather floor mats.
Still NHSTA said that the models of Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan are under investigation by US regulators because of the same problem as the problem is quite serious and can become a cause of some serious accident.
