Chrysler Bringing an Electric Version of Fiat 500 for US Market
The trend of developing hybrid car is increasing at a very fast rate and every auto making company has shifted their interests towards it, Chrysler is one among them. This Monday the company has revealed that they will build an electric version of the Fiat 500 minicar to be sale in the US markets. In the Detroit auto show a prototype of that car has been shown and basically the concept uses an electric motor, advance lithium-ion battery pack and an electric vehicle control unit as well.
According to Scott Kunselman, Chrysler’s senior vice president of engineering “The Fiat 500 is a small, lightweight platform perfect for integrating electric vehicle technology”, the model is schedule to hit the Chrysler’s showrooms in US later this year, wearing the Fiat badge. The company has also showed its future plans for the hybrid vehicle and it was told to the media that the company will get up to $48 million from the federal government to build a fleet of 140 plug-in hybrid cars which sounds really exciting and if gets successful this plan will prove to be a big one not only for the company but also for the trend of hybrid vehicles.
